Update! June 11

So I’m into revision 100+ of the game so far. We’ve added hundreds of item icons and artwork, along with special sound effects and ambient sounds. I’m adding new quests and maps daily and am going to start focusing on side (off-story) quests and open areas that are large in size hoping to give players a reason to go back a revisit stuff, giving players a chance to re-enjoy old areas. Keeping coming back for more!

Welcome! Starting Fresh!

Hey there folks! So now that my newest project is under way I’ve decided to start fresh with the posts. This way I can clean out all the clutter and useless junk. First let me announce my newsest project!

Ace Arena is a new game based on the VXAce Engine and a lot of custom materials that I’ve both created and acquired in the past months. It’s a simple little story with drastic changes and challenges. As I continue to progress through the game design I’m going to be adding even more content.

Ace Arena is about a young man who’s called Ace by his parents as a funny nickname for all the card playing he did as a child. Now that he’s grown up he works himself silly helping with the family farm and crops, but secretly dreams of being fighter listening to his father’s stories. His father was once a great champion who was known around the world for his talent in the arenas. But after he was double crossed and stolen from, his wife convinced him to go back to the family work they had been doing for generations.

Since he was a child Ace dreamed of being an Arena Master, and a heroic champion like his father. He knows his parents don’t approve, and his mother told him never to visit the arenas during combat (in fear he would become like his father.) But fate has a way of deciding things for you, as fickle as it might be. Your story starts on a simple day after a storm that ruined a load of food to be sent to the city. When you’re asked by your father to visit the city and get more materials for farming and to bring what you do have, your journey begins and before you know it; you’re tossed into one arena after another, only doing what’s right, and discovering thing about yourself and your home along the way.

Enjoy the ride, and I’ll see you in the arena!

Naturally my ultimate goal would be to produce this commercially and take it to Kickstarter to raise money for a new game engine I’m designing based off the design of this type of game. Allowing much better access to stronger features such as dynamic lighting and a fluid and physics system. So keep an eye on my blog if you’re interested.
